LOKAL is an occasional dining restaurant & function venue
Once a month or so, chef Suzi Holtzhausen, together with LOKAL’s owners, Stanley & Lainy Carpenter, work their magic on local produce. Join us for a long lunch where you arrive as guests and leave as friends.
Lokal Restaurant is located in the small village of Baardskeerdersbos, just 24km from Gansbaai or 60km from Hermanus. B’bos (as it is known to locals) is home to a thriving community of artists and passionate foodies – in fact it was named by Getaway Magazine as their new favourite foodie haven.
At LOKAL, the menu changes every month, inspired by unusual ingredients and food travels. Lokal Restaurant seats just 30 people, and so we can have some fun with our food.
LOKAL strives for true provenance through:
- Sourcing produce from their own garden, local farms and markets, and local small producers;
- Ensuring fish, poultry & meat is sustainably harvested; and
- Preserving abundance by drying, bottling, curing, salting & pickling for future menu usage.
The LOKAL Experience
Our kitchen and venue are operated completely off the grid and we observe a seasonal, local and sustainable approach to ingredient selection for our menus. We are friends who love food and nothing gives us more joy than sharing it with those who feel the same. Join us to find out why guests return to us again and again for a long lunch at LOKAL.
Lunch starts at 12:30, and consists of a four-course set menu. With the focus on using local, seasonal ingredients, menus are only finalised a couple of days prior to our opening dates, so they are not available prior to your visit. Sit back and enjoy the element of surprise!
Dietary requirements (within reason) are able to be accommodated, please just let us know at the time of booking. Tables at Lokal must be pre-booked, and payment in full is required at time of booking. We require 48 hours notice if you are unable to attend.
